Inspiration and encouragement

Hi there,

as a writer i also love to read, it’s where I get most of my inspiration from. I like nothing better than to sit down for a quiet few hours to immerse myself in a good book.

Two of my favourite authors, Matthew Reilly and James Rollins have new works either out or due for release. Matthew Reilly is back on form with his new book that is garnering rave reviews around the world. It’s not an addition to his Scarecrow series but is a standalone book entitled The Great Zoo of China. Not having read the book yet the description makes it sound nothing short of awesome. A Zoo in China is about to reveal its latest exhibit to the world, dragons. The zoo has taken all the precautions to make the exhibit safe for the public, after all no one wants another Jurassic Park fiasco. Inevitably though the dragons have their own agenda and wreak havoc.

As implausible as that sounds I simply can’t wait for the book to arrive. Matthew started his career in Australia as a self published author who had 1000 of his first book printed then went around to local book shops persuading them to sell it. After a short while they were phoning him up for more copies as they had sold out. One of the copies was bought by someone at Pan Macmillan who immediately signed him up to write Ice Station which became an instant international best seller. It’s also one of my favourite books. I remember seeing it in my local library on the way out after finding nothing that took my fancy. I picked it up, checked out the blurb on the back cover and thought it was worth a read. Quite often I find that the blurb on the back is the best part of a book but this did not disappoint. I got it home and could not put it down.

After reading this book I felt inspired to write in a different way. I started to pack my books with as much action as possible. At the front of Matthew’s early books he quotes ‘never underestimate the power of encouragment’ and his books certainly did that for me.

I look forward to reading his latest work and I encourage you to do the same.

See you soon

Jan.

About jandomagala

Having worked in the ceramic printing industry since leaving school in the early 70's I've had a passion for the written word. I started writing in the 80's and since discovering the self publishing world have finally seen the first part of my ambition come to fruition, my name in print. Now with the help of wordpress and other promotion tools I hope to see the second part of my ambition come true, to earn a living from writing.
