Hi there,

I recently added the first two books in the Col Sec series, Ronin and Omega onto the smashwords.com ‘Read an E-book week’ promotion allowing them to be bought or downloaded for free during this week and so far I’ve had almost 200 book either bought or downloaded.

To say that I’m pleased would be an understatement, now I know that 200 to some authors would be chicken feed but to me it’s a start. A start that I intend to continue with the other books in the series, and I hope those of you who bought or downloaded the first two pass on any good reviews to your friends so that they can come back for the others with you.

See you soon,

Jan.

OMEGA soon to be released.

Hi there,

I’ve been hard at work trying to get the revised edition of Ronin up and running on Createspace where it was originally published. I uploaded the revised book and the new artwork which I posted on here a while ago and which you can view on the ebook edition on smashwords.com but for some unknown reason the guys at createspace  put the old artwork from edition 1 onto edition 2.

I was a bit upset when my proof copy arrived with the old artwork on the cover so I contacted them about it and was told to send the product ID along with two photo’s of the book so they could investigate, which I promptly did.

Then they told me the Product ID was invalid and to check again and send the ISBN number which I promptly did informing them that the ID number was correct and just to reiterate I gave it to them once more.

I got a reply today saying that they would love to help but they couldn’t give out sensitive data unless I contact them from my account on the website.

Is it just me or does this all sound like a monumental cock up which they will not put right or am I being paranoid?

On another note I’ve uploaded OMEGA which is Col Sec 2 in the series and should be with you in a few weeks if the guys at createspace can get their act sorted.

See you soon

One of my Goodreads reviews

Hi there,

Area 7 (Shane Schofield, #2)Area 7 by Matthew Reilly

My rating: <a href=”http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/273288015″>5 of 5 stars</a><br /><br />
I’m doing a re-read of this book as a warm up to Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves which has just arrived. Even though this is the second time I’ve read this book it’s just as fast paced and adrenalin fueled as the first time I read it. Mr Reilly may be criticised for his lack of character development but he certainly makes up for it in the action stakes. It’s also been said that he seems to write these books as if they’re screenplays for a big budget action movie and if that’s the case when will some enterprising movie producer pick up the rights to this series and do them justice I wonder? I don’t mind that I have to suspend belief at certain parts of the story, it delivers in my opinion, on every level for pure entertainment value. Hope the new book lives up to this standard, which I’m sure it will, here’s to many more ‘Scarecrow‘ books.

New start

Hi there,

Happy New Year

Well this is it, the first day of a brand new year, all the hopes and dreams from the previous year not completed carried over from 2010 along with some new ones.

I hope everyone reaches their full potential this year and fulfils all their dreams for without dreams or hope what have we except the humdrum of ordinary life. If we dream to be better then that is the first step on the road to fulfilment, we have to know what we want before we can go out and get it.

I for one will be trying to reach my ambition of becoming a writer and by that I mean someone who earns money from writing. I hope to actually garner a readership, a following for my books, people who enjoy reading my work and look forward to the next instalment. At this point in time I would be happy with that, I’m not looking to break any records, not seeking fame just the satisfaction of knowing some people enjoy my work. Having said that if one of my books did reach the best seller list then I would be ecstatic but I’m realistic enough to know that before that happens I have a lot of work to do.

Until then though I’ll keep plodding on, trying to become the best writer I can and hope that something I write will connect with someone out there and they pass on the good word.

Again I would just like to wish everyone all the best for the coming year,

see you soon

Jan
